Meet Alan Wong
Accessibility to City College has shaped Alan and his family. As an immigrant, Alan’s father attended City College’s culinary program, allowing him to become a union hotel cook and sole provider for his family for two decades.
The City College classes Alan took as a teenager with a low-income tuition waiver helped him graduate from UC San Diego when he was 19-years-old.
In Alan's current work as an Education Policy Advisor, he not only helped draft and advance the legislation that secured ‘Free City College’ for a decade, but also expanded City College classes to the Sunset District.
As Trustee, Alan will ensure that the College serves all communities in San Francisco, instilling strong fiscal oversight and transparency at the College.
